What is Antenatal Care?

Antenatal care or ANC is your first contact with your Gynaecologist / Obstetrician, when you first know that you are pregnant.

Antenatal Care is a healthcare service which is beyond maternity care. It includes early diagnosing and managing any pregnancy-related complications ensuring you have a safe and joyous pregnancy.

World Health Organization recommends a minimum of 8 Antenatal Care meetings with your doctor, during your pregnancy.

Good Antenatal Care (ANC) helps you treat chronic problems and other health issues during pregnance.

Your Antenatal Care depends on :

The stage of pregnancy you are in
Any health issues you are facing during your pregnancy
Your pre-existing health conditions and any risks that your baby may have.

What to expect during the appointments?

Antenatal Care (ANC) appointments will usually have a series of tests to monitor your and your baby’s health, treatments, scans, check-ups and discussions covering you and your baby.
